Workshop #2 - Introduction to Data Annotations

Data Annotations · March 19, 2025

Workshop goals and content

The goals of this workshop was to introduce the concept of a “data model” and gather all the information required to represent zebrafish toxicology phenotype data.

By using real data generated by participants and through hands-on exercises, we identified all information required to report, understand, and reuse/reproduce toxicological assays. This information focused on

  • the toxicological exposure or treatment
  • phenotype observed after exposure or treatment

We also explored the ways community members would submit data, in order to plan how to create the data submission platform.

Workshop #1 - Project kick-off workshop

Zebrafish Toxicology Phenotype Atlas project kick-off workshop · January 15, 2025

Workshop goals and content

  • discussed the key challenges in accessing, reusing, and integrating zebrafish toxicology and phenotype data
  • introduced the project goals in creating an open, searchable, community-driven zebrafish toxicology phenotype atlas to improve data consistency, integration and alignment with cross-species data standards
  • reviewed the potential pitfalls of the atlas, with proposed mitigation strategies
  • discussed the role of sematic technologies and ontologies in atlas development and data interoperability
  • introduced project governance and proposed how the community will engage and contribute
  • conducted hands-on exercise to review the images of the most common, strangest, and hardest-to-annotate zebrafish phenotypes
